Spring Term
Fractions
In year 5 we are currently working on fractions. We have been using numicon to help us understand new concepts like mixed numbers, improper fractions and equivalent fractions.
We have been problem solving with fractions and some of us played a game where we had to find equivalent fractions. The group then decided it would be a good idea to create fractions twister! Lots of possibilities to explore!
We also used numicon to help us add fractions with different denominators.
Summer Term
We have begun the summer term by learning about decimals.
We moved on to understanding decimals up to 3 decimal places and learning about thousandths.
Properties of Shape
We have been learning about angles and have learnt how to use protractors to measure and draw angles.
Volume
We used multi link to explore volume.
