Local history
For our local history topic, we are looking at trade in Whitehaven. We began our unit with a trip to the Rum Story.
Back in school we wrote a recount of the trip and thought about what we had learned. We talked about what our favourite parts were.
We mapped the route of the triangular trade.
Then we created timelines showing key events in the transatlantic slave trade. After this, we added key dates from local history, showing Whitehaven’s involvement in the slave trade.
