World Food Day 2023
For World Food Day today we invited a local farmer in to school to talk about her farm, how they work through the calendar year and what sustainability measures they have in place to make sure that their animals and the world is cared for.
Fiona Roberts talked to us about how they feed the animals with their own crops and that the markets they visit are local to minimise travel miles.
We spent some time researching Massey feed to see their ingredients list and Solway Recycling to see how black plastic from hay bales is recycled, as these are the companies Fiona Roberts uses at her farm.
We discussed the product meat and the process from Farm to Fork.
After, we used locally sourced ingredients (including our own school garden) to make spaghetti bolognese for all the children in school to enjoy for tuck shop.
