Week 6 11/5/2020
Hi everyone,
I hope you all enjoyed the bank holiday weekend and VE day. I have seen some fantastic decorations and celebrations on evidence me, many thanks to your grown ups for sharing these. This week our learning is all about food and I know lots of you have been busy baking and preparing food already. This week will provide you with the opportunity to learn more about healthy eating and food from other cultures. I have also added a new document to the useful information section called Physically active phonics, which is a document from twinkl. Freya has been testing them out for me at home and most are very easy to do and don't require too many resources. I'm sorry that Freddy didn't share his adventures last week, he was so busy that he forgot! However i have made sure that he puts extra pictures on this week.
Have a lovely week year 1's

Computing
Scratch Jr is an introductory programming language that enables young children (ages 5-7) to create their own interactive stories and games. It is a free app that can be downloaded on Android or Apple devices. This is a good link for parent to understand the app
https://www.scratchjr.org/learn/interface
For your first lesson, you will be introduced to background, sprites and write you first algorithm (set of instructions) to make a sprite move. Your first challenge is to make a car drive across a city. https://www.scratchjr.org/teach/activities/drive-across-the-city
If you don’t have access to the app you could do this this unplugged activity which introduces algorithms https://www.barefootcomputing.org/docs/default-source/at-home/story_sequencing_full_pack.pdf?sfvrsn=395391ea_2
