Population

Our big question for this unit was ‘Why does population change?’

We looked at lots of different elements to be able to answer this question fully.

How is the global population changing?

We discussed the global population distribution and growth. We identified which countries are densely and sparsely populated and described why some environments are more appealing to live in than others.

What are birth and death rates?

We learnt what birth and death rates are and discussing the factors that influence them and how that has changed over time.

Why do people migrate?

We gained an understanding that migration can be voluntary and involuntary and that it is influenced by external factors that are environmental, economic and social.

How is climate change impacting our population?

We understand the impact climate change can have on the global population and spent some time discussing why climate change is happening and what can be done to help fight it.
We linked this to an artist study, where we created a collaborative art project inspired by Lubaina Himid who uses her art to portray important messages.
