Earth and Space

We began our unit by learning about the planets and the geocentric and heliocentric theories. To begin our topic, we made a model of the solar system using paper mache! The Year 5 children loved this even though it was rather messy!

We have learned about how all planets orbit the sun, how the earth moves to give us day and night and how the moon moves. We then came up with our own questions to conduct some solar system research. The children created presentations in a format of their own choosing and will be presenting what they have found to the rest of the class.

We have big ideas and big questions about space and have really loved this topic!
