Exploring paint techniques using various utensils.
Using their experience of mixing shades and tints of a colour, the class painted a three dimensional object with a grid to help them. It was tricky to analyse where the light and shadow was on their object and to create shades and tints that were different from one another.They had to look very carefully. When the paint dried it was lighter and the contrast was less.

The children explored adding black to a colour to make a shade, and white to make a tint of that colour. They challenged themselves to find as great a range as possible.
