Homework & Spellings

All children should Strive for Five, aiming to read aloud at home 5 times per week. Children should record their reading using their planner, noting the book title, page numbers and any tricky words they encounter. This needs to be signed by an adult in order for children to earn their team points. Children requiring Lexia or IDL learning should also aim to complete their allocated minutes each week.

For maths, children are allocated Times Tables practice online using Times Tables Rockstars. They should complete this between Wednesday and Monday each week.

Spelling is taught 4 times per week, plus an additional session for spelling tests. Children are given spellings on a Wednesday to practise 3 times. They are tested each Monday. 

A pre-test is carried out the previous week to measure progress in spelling tests. 

Spellings are taken from the No-nonsense spelling scheme and the Year 5/6 statutory spelling list above.
