Where does our energy come from?

We have been learning about renewable and non-renewable energy sources, where they come from and their impact on society, the economy and the environment.

4. How does the United Kingdom generate energy?

5. What is the best way to generate energy?

6. Where is the best place for solar panels on the school grounds?

 

We drew sketch maps of the school grounds and came up with some questions for different stakeholders.

 

Questions for staff;

  • Would solar panels disturb lesson time? If so, how?
  • Will solar panels be in the way?

 

Questions for children;

  • Where do you think they should go? Please give reasons.
  • Do you want solar panels?

 

Questions for the head teacher;

  • Would it disturb wildlife?
  • Will it generate enough energy for our school and be cost-effective?

 

Questions for the governors;

  • Is the installation and use of solar panels safe?
