Week beginning 15/6/20

Dear parents,

When lockdown began, we made the decision as a school not to introduce new maths learning because of the challenging circumstances and lack of teaching resources. We have since chosen to begin teaching new concepts because White Rose and BBC Bitesize have produced high-quality maths resources with excellent feedback from parents and pupils. White Rose is used in school so the steps and layout of questions will be familiar for children.

If you have been using them already, please continue where you are!

If you have not, we will begin from Summer Term - Week 5 (w/c 18th May) as of Monday 15th June. I will try to make the dates and links as clear as possible in the home learning PDF.

Year 3 are beginning with fractions. The White Rose videos explain the maths brilliantly and I am available via Jackie for extra help. If your child still finds it difficult and/or you have limited time to support learning, please don't worry. Any exposure to new concepts will help them when we return to school.

Hello Year 3!

 

I hope you had a lovely weekend. I spent mine on my paddle board on Derwent Water. Going up the river on such a hot day 🌞 felt like travelling on the Amazon river - which is fitting for this week's topic, The Rainforest. 🌴🌳🌿

 

You might build the layers of the rainforest, find out about some interesting rainforest animals🦥🐆🐜🦋, or star in an advert! Lots of exciting choices this week!

 

Also, I have filmed my first video lesson about writing a setting description for an imaginary jungle. It's a bit tricky to see what I'm writing so I have included it below the video so you can read it. I am really looking forward to seeing your writing! 😄🌟
