Rocks
Our topic for Autumn 1 is Rocks.
Today we began our topic about rocks. We learnt about how mountains were formed. We explained our learning and understanding by using play dough, actions and drawings to show the formation process.
Today we observed lots of different types of rocks. We sorted these rocks by their texture, weight and appearance. We then learnt about igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks and matched these types to their definition.
Whilst on our beach trip we investigated some of the rocks on the beach to see if we could identify what type they were. We observed their appearance and their texture.
