Local History
For our local history unit, we are focusing on learning about Whitehaven and specifically its involvement in the slave trade. We began our unit with a trip to The Rum Story.

We then wrote a recount about our trip.
After this we learned about key events in the enslavement trade and placed them in chronological order.
We then added some key dates from Whitehaven’s involvement in the slave trade to our timelines.
We then looked at the impact The Slave Trade had on Whitehaven.
