We began the unit by using atlases to locate the seven summits of the world.
We then discussed the features of mountains.
We learned about the four types of mountains and how these are formed.
We were lucky enough to take part in a zoom call with Will Sim who is a mountain climber and guide working in the French Alps. We came up with some questions for him and really enjoyed hearing his experiences.
We learned about the highest mountains in the UK.
As part of our unit, we also learned about life in the Himalayas. To finish our unit on mountains, we researched a famous mountain or mountain range, then created fact files about them.
