Respect

We started the lesson thinking about someone the children respected. Each child was given a piece of paper and wrote down why they respected that person. We crumpled them up and threw them to someone else to read out.

We reflected on some of the people we identified as people we respect and compared whether they had anything in common (for example, parents, teachers, celebrities, sports personalities).

We talked about whether there are other groups of people we think should be respected in society (for example, police, doctors, people in the forces, older people) and why. We learnt that respect for people in authority is usually a good thing. We should still continue to respect people in authority, even if an individual person does something to lose our respect.
