Instructions

Our topic for Spring 2 is ‘Instructions’. We will be reading Neil Gaiman’s ‘Instructions’ to support us in writing commands and learning about apostrophes.

In our first lesson of our new topic, we read our new book. We then discussed what a command sentences is and wrote our own commands for our friends to follow.

In English today, we began writing our own commands around our book. We worked as a team to identify all of the instructions on our given page from the book. We then wrote different instructions that would fit in with that page.

Today we wrote some instructions for someone who might visit our bedroom at home.

In English, we pretended to be characters from our story. We then developed a short role-play scene to show an interaction between these characters. We had to include a question, a command and a statement.

Today we wrote our own commands on How to Catch a Dragon. We then checked our work against our success criteria to see if we had been successful.
